Faculty of Economics UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang together with Academy Pengajian Islam Universiti Malaya (APIUM) held an International Seminar and Visiting Lecturer Program at Blok A Seminar Room, Universiti Malaya central campus. The event took place from 09.00 to 16.00 and was attended by the Dean of APIUM, Prof. Dr. Mohd Fauzi bin Hamat, along with all APIUM leaders, students, and representatives of the Faculty of Economics of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.
The event opened with an International Seminar themed “Islamic Finance & Halal Industry,” which presented expert speakers from both institutions. The seminar discussed the current issues and challenges faced in the Islamic finance and halal industry and offered innovative solutions that can be implemented in various sectors.
After the seminar session, the event continued with a Forum Group Discussion attended by the leaders of both institutions. In this discussion, several important agreements were reached, including cooperation in international conferences; organizing joint international conferences to promote research and innovation in the field of Islamic economics; Student Mobility Program; student exchange to provide international experience and enrich academic insights; Matching Research Grant; Collaboration in research supported by joint grants; International Competition Experiential Learning; organizing international competitions based on experiential learning to hone students’ practical skills, exchange reviewers, and exchange of journal reviewers to improve the quality of scientific publications in both institutions.
APIUM students showed high enthusiasm for attending the International Lecturer session delivered by lecturers from the Faculty of Economics, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. This activity also involved experiential learning simulations using MonsoonSIM Business Simulation, which provided practical experience for understanding business and management dynamics.
Prof. Dr. Mohd Fauzi bin Hamat expresses his appreciation of this event. “This collaboration opens up great opportunities for both institutions to learn from each other and develop knowledge, especially in the field of Islamic finance and the halal industry. We hope this collaboration can continue and provide tangible benefits for students and lecturers.
The Dean of the Faculty of Economics at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang also expressed optimism for the future of this collaboration. “We are very grateful to APIUM for the warm welcome and the opportunity to collaborate. The agreement reached today will be a strong foundation for further development, especially in strengthening the positions of both institutions in the international arena.
The event ended with the signing of a memorandum of understanding as an official symbol of the start of close cooperation between the Faculty of Economics of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and the Academy of Pengajian Islam Universiti Malaya.
